Top Trophy Alaska Salmon Fishing
Alaska salmon fishing...if you are looking for a new fishing vacation destination this season, consider Alaska salmon fishing. Alaska still retains so much of the untouched beauty that we fishing sports enthusiasts feel is lost in many states. Alaska is one of the least populated states, but also the
largest state, meaning that you will truly enjoy a quiet and peaceful fishing experience… until that first salmon pops its head above the water.
Visulize this...on your boat there are just a small handful of you: your Alaska salmon fishing guide...
...you, and a few fellow fishing friends. The lake is private – you’re the only one on it and you haven’t been out long, just long enough to watch the sun climb above the horizon. The silence is stunning and everyone is just enjoying the lack of cell phones and pagers and computers and fax machines making noise in the background. Suddenly there is a smacking sound that seems to echo across the lonely lake and your guide’s lightning hand taps you on the shoulder and points to your line. It’s beginning to dip below the surface and you pull back as hard as you can. On the first day of your excursion, you’ve got your first bite!
You pull back on the line and start reeling it in; it’s a fighter and one of the biggest fish you’ve ever brought in
The guide is ready with the net and by the time the fish is in the boat, you’re sweating and breathless – this will be the first of many similar experiences through the day. When you get home, it’s the experience of the first fish on your trip that you remember most. And the taste of that fish, grilled on an open fire, that you miss most when you book for the following year. How to get on your fly fishing adventure:
You will likely fly into Anchorage or Fairbanks
Anchorage just recently completed a major overhaul of its airport – serviced by many of the major airlines – in order to accommodate increased traffic, since anywhere from 3 to 4 million tourists arrive during the summer season. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding an airline to take you there at a time that is convenient for you, especially as the summer tourist season starts to increase toward the end of spring. It could be more difficult during the fall and winter months to find as convenient of a way to get into the state, but there’s also less fishing. But, don't forget your vacation will be a lot more enjoyable if you check ahead first to see what the regulations are regarding the amount of salmon you catch – and when – and how much you can bring back to your home state. Alaska salmon fishing...the best anywhere!
